A simple belief

Great apparel should feel better, perform better, and remain accessible to more people.

Five values. One brand.

Coolmate is built on five things we don't trade off. Not slogans — the way we actually work, day to day.

Quality product. Fair price.

We build to the same standard as premium global brands and price it fairly — not by cutting corners on the product, but by cutting the parts of the traditional retail model that don't serve the customer.

Own the design

In-house design, start to finish — we own our product, not someone else's.

Cut the middle

Direct manufacturing relationships, no middleman markup added along the way.

Direct to you

Sold direct-to-consumer — no department store margin baked into the price.

Fewer, better

A disciplined product range — fewer styles, made properly.

Quality Assurance

Engineered. Tested. Worn in real conditions.

Every piece is tested beyond the spec sheet — wash durability, extended wear, and Melbourne's own weather swings, not just a lab.

Open by default

We'd rather be straightforward about where we are — including what we haven't figured out yet — than oversell a small first collection. Transparency is something we're building into the brand from day one.

Measurable, not perfect

We don't claim to have solved fashion's environmental and social problems. We're starting small, tracking what we can measure, and staying honest about the rest as we grow.

Why Melbourne

2 students,
a simple idea

Coolmate Australia started in a pretty ordinary way: two Vietnamese students studying in Melbourne, trying to figure out life in a new country.

When we first came to Australia, we started noticing the little differences — the culture, the lifestyle, and even the way people dressed.

Melbourne felt relaxed. People wanted clothes they could actually live in. Something comfortable enough for a long day at uni, easy enough to wear around the city, and functional enough for the gym, a run, or whatever came next.

And somewhere along the way, we kept running into the same problem.

There were plenty of affordable clothes, but too often “cheap” came with a compromise — fabric that didn't feel great, pieces that lost their shape quickly, or basics that looked fine but weren't particularly comfortable to wear all day.

At the other end, there were some genuinely great products — but once you added the brand name, the price could become difficult to justify for something you simply wanted to wear every day.

We kept asking ourselves:

Why should everyday clothing have to be either cheap and disposable, or great quality and expensive?

That question became the beginning of this project.

Coming from Vietnam, we knew how capable Vietnamese manufacturing had become. We also started looking more closely at Coolmate — a Vietnamese brand built around a similar belief: make practical, thoughtfully designed everyday clothing, focus on the fabric and how it actually feels to wear, and keep the price reasonable.

It felt surprisingly aligned with the way people live in Australia.

So instead of trying to create another clothing store filled with hundreds of products, we decided to start small.

We chose the pieces we would genuinely wear ourselves — comfortable underwear for every day, lightweight activewear, and running essentials that make sense for the way we live in Melbourne.

And we decided to bring them here.

Built on five values. Built for the long run.

Five foundational styles is a start, not the whole story. If they work here, we build from here.
